The pages within this "About" section contain all of the essential information that you need before you register.

On this page, we answer questions about the background to the work and what you can contribute.

What is HealthWise Wales?

HealthWise Wales hopes to involve everyone in Wales in improving the health and wellbeing of the population.

We will ask you to:

• Help us to work out the most important questions on health, wellbeing, and health and social care that we should ask.
• Tell us your own information, as a member of the Welsh population, to help us answer these questions.

We need as many people as possible to take part — whatever your age, wherever you live, whether you're healthy or unwell.

What will I have to do?

Taking part is voluntary: it's up to you to choose if you want to sign up.

If you join, we will ask you to:

1. Give us your contact details.
2. Answer questions about your lifestyle, health and wellbeing.
3. Allow us to access and use your information in your NHS records.

We will use your contact details to:

• Get in touch with you every 6 months or so, to ask you to answer questions about your lifestyle, health and wellbeing.
• Access your NHS records, to get information about your healthcare like admissions to hospital or visits to your doctor.
• Get in touch to tell you about new studies that you might want to be a part of. For example, there may be studies in the future that you could be a part of because of your age or because you have a health condition such as asthma.

We will use your answers, together with the information from your NHS records, to answer the big questions about health, wellbeing, and health and social care in Wales. For more details on what we will do, click here.

Once you have joined, you can to choose if you want to take part in any of the questionnaires, studies, or events that we tell you about when we get in touch with you.
